At Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Jackie Biskupski presented her 2017-18 recommended budget to the Council. The Mayor’s presentation kicked off the Council’s budget deliberation process, which will dominate the Council’s work sessions and formal meetings through May and June. The Council encourages the public to review the Citywide funding proposals in the budget here, and weigh-in at one of the Council’s upcoming public hearings.

The Council also:
discussed the City’s Housing Plan and the serious need for more affordable housing;
discussed several zoning proposals;
interviewed and approved several board appointments;
discussed the Metropolitan Water District’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18, specifically its plans for infrastructure improvements. The Metropolitan Water District works with the Public Utilities departments from Salt Lake City and Sandy City to provide culinary water;
held and closed several public hearings;
confirmed public hearing dates for a number of upcoming public hearings.
