Recap of the February 20 Council Meeting

In a straw poll vote on Tuesday, the Council asked staff to work with the Administration to develop public engagement options for possible efforts to address the City’s funding needs. The public engagement options would center on communicating with the public about tackling the City’s funding needs through a possible sales tax and/or General Obligation bond for infrastructure. The Council has not made a final decision about these funding sources but began the conversation tonight.

The Council also:

  • discussed ordinances that streamline language in the City code to make the planning and zoning processes more clear for developers and neighbors;
  • received an update from the City’s team following the Utah State Legislature; and
  • adopted a joint resolution with Mayor Jackie Biskupski recognizing the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center for 30 years of service to the community.
