At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council discussed the Golf Enterprise Fund, which has experienced changes due to financial difficulties in recent years. The Council discussed revenue projections and opportunities to attract more players. The Council asked the Administration to provide new options to make the Golf Fund solvent other than relying on subsidies from other City funds. A follow-up briefing will be scheduled in the coming months.
The Council also:
- Heard from a number of members of the public who expressed their concerns about the City’s selection of locations for new Homeless Resource Centers, particularly a planned Center at 653 East Simpson Ave.
- Heard from Council Member Erin Mendenhall about the Juvenile Sex Trafficking conference she attended in November. She shared details about assistance efforts for sex trafficking survivors of all ages.
- Discussed a request for a housing Trust Fund Loan totaling $550,000 for a housing development at 211 North Cornell Street that will feature 131 affordable units. The Council will likely take action on this item at its February 21 meeting.
- Held public hearings on a number of topics.
